At 24 MPG HIGHWAY, it's steller performance without a penalty at the pump or from the federal government. The Corvette Z06 combines a low power to weight ratio and a 7.0L V8 engine that puts out 505hp. Even with a test track top speed 198mph,  it still avoids the gas guzzler tax.

 Big power from small package

Z06 is powered by a 7.0L (427 cubic inch) aluminum block V8 with a 11.0:1 compression ratio. It delivers an SAE certified 505hp at 6300 rpm and 470lb ft of torque at 4800rpm. The engine employs lightweight titanium intake values and connecting rods and has a high performance dry sump oil system to protect vital components under high G driving conditions.

Lightest Corvette of them all

With a curb weight of 3175 pounds, there isn't a ounce of fat on the Z06. Making this possiable is a aluminum frame; magnesium engine cradle and fixed roof structure; and the use of carbon fiber front fenders and carbon fiber, balsa sanwiched floorboards. Some of these technologies were gleaned from the Corvette Racing factory program, which had won its class the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans six of the past 10 years.

Lay down the power with launch control

For those who like to compete in club sanction, close course track events, there is a New standard launch control that’s included with the standard short throw six speed gearbox. It modulates engine rpm to lay the power down more smoothly, while providing consistent acceleration times on the test track.

It’s Hard to imagine anything that could make driving a Corvette better. Also, choose from several audio system options, including a Bose seven speaker sound system, depending on model. Select models even offer a navigation system that provides information on screen, verbally or via the Head Up Display to help you keep your eyes on the road.

Six piston front brake calipers

The Corvette Z06 will stop you in your tracks both literally and figuratively, thanks to mono block six piston front brake calipers engaging 4 inch front rotor and four piston rear calipers engaging 13.4 inch rear rotors. All rotors are vented and cross drilled.
